Terms of Service
Last updated: 31 August 2026
These Terms govern your use of Holder software and services provided by the Holder Team.
1. Holder
Holder is software for creating, organising, storing and working with information and associated files.
Holder is designed to give users control over their information and may allow information to be stored locally or using storage and synchronisation services chosen by the user.
2. Your content
You retain ownership of content that you create, import or store using Holder.
Using Holder does not transfer ownership of that content to us.
You give us permission to process your content only to the extent necessary to provide Holder functionality that you request.
3. Your storage providers
Holder may allow you to connect services such as Google Drive or other storage and synchronisation systems.
You are responsible for choosing those services and for complying with their terms.
We are not responsible for the availability, security, pricing, operation or continued existence of third-party services.
Removing Holder does not necessarily remove information stored with a third-party provider. You may need to manage or delete that information through the provider itself.
4. Google Drive
If you connect Google Drive, you authorise Holder to interact with your Google Drive account within the permissions you grant.
Holder will use this access to provide functionality that you request, such as storing, retrieving, locating or deleting Holder files.
You can revoke Holder’s access through your Google Account settings.
5. Acceptable use
You must not use Holder or Holder-operated services to:
- violate applicable law;
- intentionally interfere with or damage our services or other users;
- attempt to gain unauthorised access to systems or accounts;
- distribute malicious software through services operated by us.
You are responsible for the content you choose to create, store or synchronise using Holder.
6. Availability and development
Holder is under active development.
Features may be added, changed or removed, and software may contain defects.
We may modify or discontinue Holder-operated services where reasonably necessary. Where practical, we will try to provide appropriate notice of significant changes affecting users’ stored information.
7. Backups
You are responsible for maintaining appropriate backups of important information.
Holder may provide synchronisation, storage or backup-related functionality, but no storage system should be treated as infallible.
8. Third-party software and services
Holder may interact with or contain software and services provided by third parties.
Those components may be governed by their own licences, terms and privacy policies.
9. Liability
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability where doing so would be unlawful.
To the extent permitted by law, we are not responsible for indirect or consequential losses arising from the use of Holder, third-party services connected to Holder, or loss of data outside our reasonable control.
10. Termination
You may stop using Holder at any time.
You may disconnect third-party services such as Google Drive through Holder or through the relevant provider.
We may restrict access to Holder-operated services where reasonably necessary to address abuse, security threats, legal requirements or material violations of these Terms.
11. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms as Holder develops or where legal or operational requirements change.
The current version will be published on the Holder website with its revision date.
12. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, except where applicable consumer law requires otherwise.
